Home Buying Tips
My best advice to you as a buyer is to become educated. So how do you do that? Well, if you like to
read, I have included materials here that can really help you. If you don't like to read, then maybe
we should just sit down and talk. I can explain the things that you should be aware of during your
home buying process.
Here is a list of quick tips. Some of them are links to additional information.
-
Choose an agent and stick with him or her
unless you are not getting proper service. Remember, in most cases your agent can show you
everyone's listings so there is no need to jump from agent to agent.
-
Investigate financing before you start searching for your new home. You need to know what
kind of financing you qualify for and how much you are able to borrow. It doesn’t make any
sense to find your dream house and then find out you can't get financing. I recommend you go
to my other site, Waupaca Home
Loans for information about financing. Here are some pages in particular that you should
check out:
-
Have a basic understanding of the whole
home buying process.
-
Make a list of your wants and your needs concerning your new home. If you actually write the
list out and prioritize it, it can help you in your decision making process later. Sometimes
it's easy to get caught up in the emotion of the moment and choose the "prettier" house
(even though it isn't in the right school district and doesn't have enough bedrooms) rather
than the house that fits your needs that you might have to make "pretty" after you buy it.
When you're making your list, think about things such as location (including school
district), number of bedrooms, number of baths, need for a garage or basement, etc.
-
I have included a list of local insurance
companies, utility companies and
school districts with
their addresses, phone numbers and a link to their website (if they have one). Once it gets
near the time for you to close on your house you will need to contact some of these people.
